Guiding Principles for Business Advocacy
The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce adopts a list of business principles that we will use as our guiding document in dealing with all levels of government and agencies. Our principles are based on the tenant that business and its prosperity drives the American dream. Upholding the basic foundations of capitalism such as low taxes, good infrastructure, opportunity for excellent healthcare and education and upholding our military will ensure that Cheyenne remains a great place to live, work and do business.
TAXATION AND REGULATION
- Support tax policies that are balanced and fair to all tax classes
- Oppose tax policies that reduce overall tax base and shift burden to the business community
- Support efforts that balance revenues with prudent fiscal spending
- Support efforts to reduce regulatory burdens on business
- Streamline and reduce permitting costs
- Access to Rights-of-Way
- Vendor compensation credit for sales tax collection
- Redundant, duplicative regulation at city, county, state levels
- Oppose measures that increase business liability exposure
- Worker’s compensation
- Unfair employment practices
TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
- Support policies that address comprehensive plans and funding for infrastructure development to aid local business

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
- Support workforce development programs within state government and at all levels of educational entities focused on training and skilled-employee recruitment
BUSINESS CREATION, RECRUITMENT, RETENTION AND EXPANSION
- Support incentive programs that benefit existing businesses, while aiding in business recruitment
- Support policies that encourage private industry growth and investment
- Oppose use of tax payer dollars to create government competition with the private sector
- Support economic development programs that enhance and leverage existing business
Military
- Nurture funding and growth of FE Warren and the Wyoming National Guard at all levels of government.
Environment
- Advocate for a sensible business driven approach to the balance of economy and environment that provides for long term sustainability.
- Monitor alternative energy legislation that would impact the cost of doing business.
Healthcare
- Track issues that pose significant financial and workforce challenges to the membership.
